Long Term Conditions

There are around 15 million people living with a long-term condition in England. They account for around 70% of overall health and care spend and are often disproportionately higher users of health services – representing 50% of GP appointments, 60% of outpatient and A&E attendances and 70% of inpatient bed days. 1

Baxter has a strong track-record of providing support through products and services to patients with long-term conditions. This includes treatments for patients in the home especially for complex conditions with disproportionately high costs, such as renal failure, haemophilia and immune disorders.

Ensuring these patients receive the right care, in the right place at the right time presents some of the biggest opportunities to improve patient outcomes and experience, and direct NHS resources where they can deliver the most valuable impact.

Our expertise spans home dialysis, haemophilia, parenteral nutrition and immunoglobulin therapy for patients with immune disorders. We also support patients with education programmes, for example at our Renal Education Centre in London, as well as patient information to support with decision making so they have an infomed choice of treatment options.
