Commissioning for excellence in renal care
As the new structure of the NHS begins to take shape, fresh commissioning challenges are continually emerging. At the same time, ongoing developments in health technologies and payment systems provide exciting opportunities to improve and optimise patient care and treatment pathways across the UK, whilst balancing the needs of the efficiency agenda.

With this in mind, Baxter has developed an educational resource for healthcare professionals involved in commissioning renal care services. Renal care represents a priority area for commissioners, as chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects 4% of the English population and consumes approximately £1.3 billion in healthcare resources1.

Our commissioning guide provides the information you need to tackle the emerging challenges facing commissioning of renal services across the UK, and supports you in delivering the highest quality of renal care to patients across your area.

In addition, Baxter has developed two tools to help you model reimbursement and the costs of provision of dialysis and savings that could be generated by changing your mix of dialysis patients.

The Morris Minor II tariff tool - use this to assess the impact of the adult dialysis tariff on cost of the provision of dialysis.

The Baxter PD Tariff Tool - use this to assess the costs of providing a PD service with Baxter under the new PBR tariff and National PD Framework.
